The Rotary Club of St. Joseph-Benton Harbor has announced the winners of its 46th annual Scholarship Essay Contest, recognizing three top students for their exceptional writing. Daniel Kondrat of Andrews Academy secured the coveted first-place position, receiving a $1,000 scholarship.
Kondrat, who is set to attend Andrews University in the fall, led a field of 15 entries evaluated by the Rotary Club. The contest aims to support local students in their pursuit of higher education, providing financial assistance as they embark on their academic journeys.
Melody Kertawidjaja from Berrien Springs High School was awarded second place in the competition. Kertawidjaja is currently considering attending either Andrews University or the University of Michigan, reflecting diverse academic interests as she plans her post-secondary education.
Rounding out the top three, Seth Martin of St. Joseph High School earned third place. Martin has outlined plans to attend Brigham Young University following a mission trip, demonstrating a commitment to both service and future studies.
