Fairfax, Virginia – The George Mason track & field teams concluded the 2026 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 3, 2026, at George Mason Stadium, delivering an impressive performance that yielded 12 total medals, three new meet records, and two significant end-of-season awards. The Patriots showcased their athletic prowess across various events, with several athletes earning top honors.
Abby Weening emerged as a standout performer for George Mason, earning multiple medals and an end-of-season award for her exceptional overall contributions. Weening secured gold medals in both the high jump, clearing 1.79m, and the long jump, with a mark of 5.81m. Her strong showing continued with two silver medals, achieved in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.01 and in the 200m at 25.33. Additionally, Weening recorded a javelin throw of 36.20m during the championships.
Joining Weening in receiving an end-of-season award for overall performance was Jordan Edwards, recognized for consistent excellence throughout the competition. The Patriots' medal haul also included notable individual achievements from other team members.
On the men's side, Cameron Portis earned a silver medal in the discus event, throwing 51.13m. Kellen La Roche also contributed a silver medal to the team's tally, achieving a height of 2.09m in the men’s high jump. The success extended to relay events, where the men’s 4x800 relay team secured a bronze medal, finishing with a time of 7:29.86.
