Katelyn Estes Wins 2026 Congressional Art Competition, Artwork to be Displayed in U.S. Capitol

Congressman Tom Cole announced Tuesday the winners of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for Oklahoma’s Fourth District, with Katelyn Estes of Strafford taking the top honor. Estes' charcoal artwork, titled “Spirit of the Plains,” has been selected for display in the U.S. Capitol for one year, representing the district.

The annual competition highlights the artistic talents of high school students across the nation, offering the first-place winner an opportunity to showcase their work in a prominent national venue. Estes’ winning piece will join other student artworks from congressional districts across the country in the Capitol building, serving as a testament to her skill and creativity.

In addition to the top prize, Congressman Cole also recognized the achievements of the competition's runners-up. Second place was awarded to Jessica Gibson of Oklahoma City for her acrylic piece, “Myriad in Bloom.” Her artwork, along with the third-place entry, will be displayed in Congressman Cole’s Oklahoma office, providing local residents and visitors an opportunity to appreciate their contributions.

Wren Hobbs secured third place in the competition with her pencil drawing, “Still Home.” All three winning artworks were celebrated for their artistic merit and representation of Oklahoma's Fourth District.

The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide contest that began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. The display of winning artwork in both the U.S. Capitol and congressional district offices offers significant exposure for the student artists and celebrates their accomplishments.
