LEXINGTON, KY – The 2025-26 Esports Spring State Championships successfully concluded on April 23, 2026, at the University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union Esports Lounge in Lexington. The event marked the culmination of intense competition, with multiple state championship titles awarded across various PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch gaming platforms.
Competitors from high schools across the state gathered to showcase their skills and strategic prowess in a diverse array of popular esports titles. Six distinct champions were ultimately crowned, each demonstrating exceptional talent in their respective games.
Among the victorious teams and individuals, Bowling Green secured the state championship title in the high-octane vehicular soccer game, Rocket League. Campbellsville emerged victorious in the fighting game category, claiming the state championship for Street Fighter 6. In an individual display of skill, Armani James, representing Central, earned the state championship for Madden NFL 26.
The Nintendo Switch titles also saw fierce competition and new champions. Shelby County triumphed in the popular kart racer, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, while Lafayette clinched the state championship in the iconic fighting game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Rounding out the list of champions was Great Crossing, who dominated the arena shooter, Splatoon 3.
