International Music Competitions Reveal August 2026 Laureates Across Violin and Cello Categories

August 2026 has seen a flurry of announcements from prestigious international music competitions, with several organizations releasing their lists of prize winners across violin and cello categories. Talented musicians from around the globe have been recognized for their performances, claiming top honors and significant prizes.

The Cooper International Violin Competition, which announced its 2026 results on August 11, named Mingzhe Ye as its first-prize winner, who received $20,000. Elizabeth Poppy Song secured the second prize with $10,000, while Minji Choi earned the third prize and $5,000. Emrik Revermann was awarded fourth prize, and Hyunsuk Ryu and Jiye Kang tied for fifth prize, each receiving $1,500.

In Ghent, Belgium, the Kreutzer International Music Competition concluded its violin categories from August 4 to 8, with final results released on August 10. Jeongin Seo took the first prize in Category A, receiving an €800 bow. Kai Gergov was awarded the Category B first prize of €1,000. Yige Chen achieved a notable double win, securing the Category C first prize of €1,500 and also earning the Grand Prize, which included the Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen prize.

The Fenix Award International Music Competition published its August 2026 winners list on August 26, recognizing multiple violin and cello entrants. Gold awards in the violin category went to Isa Raquel Cavaleiro Colaço, Alice Li, and Michalina Wilk. Platinum winners were also listed in the cello categories, including Amanda Yu, Claire Kim, and Muli Shi.

The Charleston International Music Competition announced the results for its 2026 19th Century Music Competition on August 10. Kriti Olivia Polu was awarded the first prize in the violin category, and Juliet Zhang claimed the first prize in the cello category.

Adding to the month's competition news, the Erik Satie International Music Competition released its 2026 Season 3 winners list on August 12. Violin laureates included Cheng-Xin Lu and Izabela Wiktoria Oliwia Torfs, while Malgorzata Gruza was recognized as a cello winner.
