Congressman Joe Neguse’s office recently announced the top winners of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for Colorado’s 2nd District. The announcement, made at an event held at the City of Longmont Public Library, celebrated student artists whose work will now gain national recognition.
Haiden Michel, a student from Holy Family High School, secured the coveted First Place for her artwork titled “Sunshine in Can.” Michel’s winning piece will be displayed as part of a prestigious exhibition on Capitol Hill, representing the artistic talent from Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District.
Following closely, Mimi Turrill from Skyline High School earned Second Place with her piece, “By Example.” Vladyslava Melnyk of Silver Creek High School was awarded Third Place for her artwork, “There is too much of everything.” These students' creative expressions were highlighted during the recent ceremony in Lafayette/Longmont, CO, marking a significant achievement in their artistic journeys.
The competition also recognized additional student artists for their commendable work. Lexi Hill was named the Fourth Place winner, and Grace Jarchow received Fifth Place. Their contributions underscore the depth of talent present within the district’s high schools.
The annual Congressional Art Competition serves as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate the artistic abilities of high school students across the nation. Organized by congressional offices, it provides young artists with a unique opportunity to showcase their creative expressions and have their work displayed in a prominent national setting, offering them exposure and encouragement in the arts.
