Veritas AI has officially announced the winners of its highly anticipated 2026 Singularity: AI Essay Contest, a global competition that attracted over 500 submissions from students across 50 countries. Justin Iocco, representing Brooklyn Technical High School in the USA, emerged as the Gold Medalist, securing a $500 cash prize and a $2,490 program scholarship.
The announcement, made in July 2026, highlighted the exceptional talent and insightful perspectives showcased by participants in the increasingly relevant field of artificial intelligence. The contest, designed to foster deeper understanding and critical thinking about AI, saw entries from a vast global pool, with students from over 160 countries represented in the overall participant base.
The selection of the top six medalists, including Gold, Silver, and Bronze recipients, followed a rigorous double-blind review process. Esteemed researchers from leading institutions such as MIT, Yale, and Oxford meticulously evaluated each submission, ensuring impartiality and a high standard of academic scrutiny.
Joining Iocco on the podium were the Silver Medalists: Matthew Pineda from St. Paul University Quezon City, Philippines, and Srishti Purohit from Adarsh Public School, India. Their essays were recognized for their outstanding quality and contributions to the discourse surrounding AI.
The Bronze Medals were awarded to Sheraz Hassan of The City School Ravi Campus, Pakistan; Aarav Kalra from Saratoga High School, USA; and Sahir Suri from James Logan High School, USA. These students demonstrated commendable analytical skills and innovative thought in their respective submissions.
